A step-by-step guide
Buying Guide
Six checks worth making before you hand over any money — from VIN verification to the final handshake.
- 01
Start with VIN & History
Before contacting a seller, check whether the listing has a VIN Verified or History Checked badge. A verified VIN confirms the vehicle exists in official records; a history check can reveal past accidents, mileage records, or theft flags.
- 02
Read the Full Listing
Compare the year, mileage, fuel type, and transmission against what you're looking for, and read the description carefully for any mentioned damage or missing documents.
- 03
Ask Before You Meet
Use Avtigo's messaging to ask about the vehicle's condition, service history, and reason for selling before arranging a viewing. Keep the conversation on the platform so there's a record of what was discussed.

Inspect and Test Drive
See the car in daylight, check the VIN plate matches the listing, look underneath for leaks or rust, and take it for a proper test drive on both city and highway roads if possible.
- 05
Verify the Paperwork
Confirm the seller's name matches the vehicle's registration document, and make sure there's no outstanding loan or lien on the car before you pay anything.
- 06
Pay Safely
Avoid paying a large deposit before seeing the car in person. Complete the ownership transfer through the official registration process, not just a handshake.
